"I have never had so much success (or fun) with the punt. Thanx heaps and great
punting to all!”
"I am very appreciative of the efforts that go into producing this outstanding information."
In previous articles I mentioned that we would later concentrate
on refinements and pricing.
However, in doing so I'm conscious
of not making the task too difficult for users of the Killer Factors and
hopefully what follows is true to that objective.
The sort of
refinements I have in mind refer to the first three factors: Beaten
Distance; Order of Favouritism and the Average Prizemoney Index (API)
ranking.
When it comes to betting exchanges, it's no wonder Aussie punters are confused. The rhetoric from racing's officialdom has been often exaggerated and fear-sowing. Here's how Betfair explains its situation in regard to being accepted here in Australia.
Betfair commenced wagering on Australian racing in early 2003 and their market share, while still only small by comparison with the more traditional tote and bookmaker operators, has steadily grown.
A few months after the commencement of Betfair's Australian operations, on June 28 2003, during his weekly "Racing To The Max" radio show heard on Sydney's 2SM and some other stations throughout NSW, journalist Max Presnell stated to his audience that he had been told that sometime the following week an announcement would be made to the effect that betting exchanges would be outlawed in Australia.
Following on from the Roman Koz article in last month’s Practical Punting Monthly, the editor asked me to share some of my experiences as a Betfair user with readers as well.
I found Roman’s article of immense interest as his approach has been somewhat different from my own. However, before sharing some of those experiences, perhaps a few words about where wagering and in particular betting exchanges are heading would be appropriate, given that punters deserve some certainty in this regard.
At this point, the future of betting exchanges, and in particular Betfair, remains uncertain in Australia.
