"I have never had so much success (or fun) with the punt. Thanx heaps and great
punting to all!”
"I am very appreciative of the efforts that go into producing this outstanding information."
In an earlier article I posed the question, "How many times have you blown your money in the first few seconds of a race?" The reality is today, more than ever before, horse-racing is about the three P's: position, pace and performance.
Position: The in-running position a horse settles and races in during a race.
In last months issue of PPM, Statsman and Brian Blackwell reported on some very strange statistics related to multiple betting races.
Don Scott - one of the most highly respected names in racing circles wrote an explanation of these figures Racing World Magazine. We feel it is important for readers to learn all the facts. Don Scott's article is therefore reprinted in full below. with the permission of Racing World Magazine.
A leading turf magazine has discovered what it calls "concrete evidence of manipulation" in exotic forms of betting, particularly trifectas. The magazine claims in its August issue that racing authorities should examine this evidence.
In the last discussion on the statistics relevant to Melbourne Clear Cut Favourites (CCF) covering the period August 1 to December 31, I expressed amazement that an actual profit eventuated if you backed the 329 horses concerned.
I also stated that although 329 was becoming a significant number of occurrences, I would be happier to see over 500. Well, we have now passed that figure. At that stage there had been 329 CCF for 106 winners returning $329.90 and I was conservative in suggesting we wait until this latest set of figures was published to give us an opportunity to sit back and have a good think.
This regular page is devoted to the performances of clearcut (no equal) favourites on both Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan tracks.
Over the course of a year various aspects of favourites will be covered and updated. This month I have decided to update the clearcut Sydney favourites from August 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 which I detailed in the May edition to include January 1, 2009 to April 30, 2009. The extra races will provide an even better representation of the favourites’ scene in Sydney.

Overall, the statistics for this period show there were 329 CCF (Clear Cut Favourites: No Equal) for 106 winners, or 32.22 per cent winners, for an amazing return of $329.90. In other words, there was actually a profit, albeit a tiny one.
