The answer for those who lose

CASH IN ON WIN BETS (Part 3)

I get a lot of mail from fans concerned because they are consistently losing. These fans ask how to bet to win. I have no quick-fix method to pass on. It takes a lot of work to become a winner in greyhound racing. And it's difficult to say how anyone should bet since wagering is an individual thing.

If you have a betting style that is generating a profit, then by all means stick with that style. I think the main problem with most betting styles is that fans try to force their styles to hit the big one.

Those ’fat’ payouts are worth going after

PLUNDER THE TRIFECTA POOLS

In general, around the world, the most profitable wager on greyhound racing is the TRIFECTA pool.

Unlike horseracing, there is contact between racers in every dog race, usually a great deal of contact.  Because of this it is quite difficult to predict the outcome of most races, especially for third place (SHOW).

This is exactly why the TRIFECTA pay offs are often quite fat! And, because of this they are worth going after. We’ll study here how to go about making some money from this pool.

How to throw winning punches in the dog fight

BOX YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS

I’ve often been asked to speak about the importance of position posting as a factor in greyhound racing.

Does the #1 box have an advantage?  Are dogs starting from the “middle” boxes, #4, #5 and #6, disadvantaged?  Isn’t the outside, #8 box, pretty good?  The answer? ABSOLUTELY!  The next question: “HOW absolutely?”

You can look up, or compile for yourself, a chart of how the starting box bias works out. (Be aware that it may be vastly different for different tracks, and may even vary at one track, from grade to grade, and certainly from course length to course length!)  In the majority of cases, you will see some positive bias toward the #1 box, perhaps also the #8, and, in some cases, the #2 or #3 boxes may show a slight edge. Likewise, in most cases, the #4, #5, #6 boxes will indicate a lower percentage of winners.

CHECK ALL FACTORS TO GET YOUR EDGE

In an article in the April issue of PPM I stressed that SPEED RATINGS are the single most important factor in greyhound handicapping.

I realise, however, that the racing forms used in your country make it very difficult to rank and compare the dogs’ speed/time averages.  Here in the US our form typically list the dogs’ six most recent races, usually all on the same track and the same course length.

Other than differences caused by weather, (rain, snow, unusual temperatures, etc), it is rather easy to sort out the “faster” and “slower” dogs in an upcoming race.
