"I have never had so much success (or fun) with the punt. Thanx heaps and great
punting to all!”
"I am very appreciative of the efforts that go into producing this outstanding information."
Some time ago a friend confessed to me he’d discovered why he kept on losing every year.
“Too many little extra bets…you know, action bets,” he said. “It’s a shock to see how they add up and how much I’ve lost on them. I must be crazy, and I only do it to stop being bored.”
Well, my pal is not the only punter in this world of ours who cannot help himself when it comes to needing action, action and more action throughout the day.
There are two extremes in "overlays" and "underlays" that you need to be aware of. One is the true low-odds overlay, the other is the high-odds underlay.
The way to understand either one (as well as the more conventional mid-range overlay) is to first, of course, understand your own handicapping, and second, understand how the crowd handicaps.
How smart is the betting public? There are conflicting views on this question. In recent years, the claim has been advanced that the 'crowd' is smart, that it gets it more right, or close to right, than any individual can.
But some experts are starting to question this belief. Among them is Charles Carroll, one of the greatest speed-rating gurus in world racing.
