"I have never had so much success (or fun) with the punt. Thanx heaps and great
punting to all!”
"I am very appreciative of the efforts that go into producing this outstanding information."
I
get a lot of mail from fans concerned because they are consistently
losing. These fans ask how to bet to win. I have no quick-fix method to
pass on. It takes a lot of work to become a winner in greyhound racing.
And it's difficult to say how anyone should bet since wagering is an
individual thing.
If you have a betting style that is generating a
profit, then by all means stick with that style. I think the main
problem with most betting styles is that fans try to force their styles
to hit the big one.
In the sixth and final article of our special series, US expert Barry Meadow and PPM editor Brian Blackwell discuss various aspects of punting, including betting on trifectas and "value based" approaches.
BB: We ended last month's chat with you mentioning that handicappers, the rank and file punters, will probably never make a discovery that hasn't been noted and evaluated by one's competitors. What about the staking aspect of things? Trifectas for example?
Last month we left
off at the point where I was raving (again) about the Graham Swift
novel, Last Orders.
It's the only novel I can ever remember in
which the author really seems to understand what is going on inside a
punter's head.
I include people like Dick Francis when I say that
most people who write about racing are only able to speak from their
own viewpoint when it comes to punters.
This
article is an extract from Steve Fierro's best-selling book The Four
Quarters of Horse Investing, which is available from book stores on the
Internet, including www.netcapper.com
and www.todaysracingdigest.com.
How
much will this cost? How much will I make? How will I get paid? The
three questions I present above must be answered. You have worked your
way through quite a process. You have laboured in earnest to build a
successful horse-investing portfolio. You deserve the answers to those
questions.
