"I have never had so much success (or fun) with the punt. Thanx heaps and great
punting to all!”
"I am very appreciative of the efforts that go into producing this outstanding information."
Multiple combinations lie at the heart of
successful betting on trifectas, first 4s, trebles and parlays. Even
quinellas and exactas need a multiple bet push.
The problem we
face as punters is to decide how much to spend on these multiple
combinations because each additional horse inserted into the bet calls
for extra money to be staked.
So the “safer” the bet the more it
will cost you, and the less your ultimate profit will be.
We’ve
covered quite a few multiple combinations for the exotics in the last
few issues of PPM and this time around I’m looking at the lower priced
end of the scale . . . yes, it’s back to basics!
I suppose the
one combination that is overbet as far as trifectas go is the 3-runner
‘box’ for $6. It’s easy to pick out three, link them all and hand over
your six bucks. Okay, that’s fine as far as it goes, but there are
better ways to attack the trifecta without spending too much money.
It’s back
to the trifecta this month, and this time I’m looking at some of the
more costly multiple combinations.
I’m using $75 as the minimum
stake. This is a fair whack to spend on a trifecta but if you pick your
races carefully you can give yourself a wide spread of runners, and thus
stand the chance of hooking some handsome returns.
If $75 or
more is a bit too much for your wallet, you can always use the
‘flex-bet’ facility and bet a percentage of the total stake. Bet, say,
50 per cent and you’ll only be up for $37.50 on a $75 combination (based
on $1 units).
Knowing when to “draw the line” in the number of
combinations is a key factor in successful betting on trifectas.
Most
punters have only a limited amount of money to spend. In a way, this is
a good thing. It at least stops the punter from wasting money on
combinations that are highly unlikely to succeed.
I think $25 is a
fair “average” bet . . . so, with that in mind, what can you do to
spend that $25, or even something smaller, with your trifecta
combinations?
Some ground rules to kick off this
article: there’s no sense in trying to bet trifectas on every race, and
no sense in backing too many horses at short prices.
So that’s
out of the way. What I want to discuss is how to bet on trifectas to
give yourself the best chance of making some money on a long-term basis.
To do this you WILL need to hit several very large trifectas in the
course of 12 months.
